This is the bizarre moment Russian police officers dragged a 7ft volleyball player off a budget airline – for being too tall to fly.
Flight attendants claimed star Alexander Kimerov, 20, was blocking the aisle with his long legs.
The crew from Pobeda Airlines called the police and three uniformed officers then removed him from the service from Novy Urengoy in Siberia to Moscow.
He tried to swap to another seat but was refused by a flight attendant, even though he had flown the route previously.
Moscow Dynamo volleyball player Alexander Volkov expressed shock at the player’s treatment, and posted the video of the incident on his social media.
He said: ‘What’s going on with this world, friends? A man is being taken off plane because of his height.
‘And not just an ordinary man but a prominent sportsman who plays for Russia.
‘I am astounded by incompetence of police officers who took part in the incident.’
A video shows police ordering Kimerov to ‘behave like a man and vacate your seat’.
The player seeks to reason with them that he should be entitled to fly, but then gave up, reported The Siberian Times.
There was no immediate comment from the airline, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Russian state airline Aeroflot. But the story has caused shock in Russia.
